About Kathryn Pauli
That’s me, Kathy, in the photo. I am a lawyer-turned-writer here in Shanghai. Several years ago, my husband asked whether I would consider moving with our two teen-aged sons from our home in Washington, D.C., to China for a year or two. I was having a bad day and flippantly answered “In a skinny second!” Look where that landed me! More than five years later, I still find living and traveling in China so amazing that I can’t help but write about it. I share most of my stories with ShanghaiWrite, a wonderful group of women who all write and share their own Shanghai stories, but I also occasionally write for publication, including pieces in Urbanatomy: Shanghai 2008 and Urbanatomy: Family Guide.

Hi, Kathy:
I think we saw each other somewhere in shanghai.
I guess you never lived in tingzijian.
it is a horrible life in tingzijian in shanghai.
Yes, I think we’ve seen each other before, too. A large city, but a small town. And you are right — I am glad to have the house as it was originally designed. My tingzijian would be a small home, but it is a lovely space. Do you have an experience of living in one to tell? Thanks for visiting. Kathy
